Hair transplantation for women in Turkey

Women can also undergo a hair transplantation at the Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic. It is also usually possible to have a hair transplant without shaving.

Hair Loss In Women

Hair loss is not a problem faced by men alone. Nearly 40% of women experience some degree of thinning hair or hair loss in their lives. The effects of hair loss on women are often particularly damaging and can lead to further psychological distress. Hair restoration for women has become an increasingly popular choice for many women the world over.

Androgenetic Alopecia

Also known as Female Pattern Baldness, androgenetic alopecia is the leading cause of hair loss in women. It is typically characterised by the progressive shrinking of hair follicles, shortening of the hair growth cycle, and finally, shedding of hair. While female pattern hair loss and male pattern baldness share many similarities, there are several key distinctions.

Whereas male pattern baldness typically affects the frontal area (receding hairline) and crown (bald spot), patients suffering from female pattern hair loss often notice a far more diffuse thinning of the hair across the crown area. This generally avoids the receding hairline and bald spot often seen on men. Since female pattern hair loss is often less visible – and can be caused by more factors –  than male baldness, it is often harder to spot and properly diagnose

Hair Transplantation For Women

The general process for a hair transplant in Turkey is roughly the same for both men and women. However, hair transplants for women present certain challenges that must be taken into account before any hair restoration procedure.

Women are NOT required to shave their heads before a hair transplant

The first step of any transplant is the initial consultation. During this meeting, the number of grafts required, the specifics of the donor area, as well as any other special considerations are taken into account. Once a treatment plan has been created the transplant can begin. The hair transplant follows a clear process.

First, a small area is shaved into the back of the head to serve as a donor site. This area is quite small and is particularly chosen to be hidden by surrounding hair – no one will see it. Either a standard or needle-free local anaesthetic is then applied to the donor site depending on the patient’s needs, to ensure complete comfort throughout the procedure. Next, the hair follicles (grafts) are removed with the assistance of a micro motor and hollow needles. These grafts typically remove multiple follicles and are stored in a special solution to ensure their health throughout the procedure. Finally, the grafts are implanted into the recipient site. This is done using either the DHI method or the Sapphire FUE technique. The method used depends on each patient’s specific case. In both methods, though, the grafts are meticulously placed to exactly match the direction and angle of hair growth to provide for a fully natural final result.

Other Hair Loss Prevention For Women

Since hair loss in women can be caused by several factors, it is first necessary to properly diagnose the type of hair loss present. Is it stable or still progressing? Is it permanent or temporary? These questions can only be answered by a specialised doctor through a thorough examination. Before beginning any hair restoration treatment it is important to receive a full initial consultation to determine the best source of treatment.

The most common treatments offered for hair restoration in women are:

Hair Mesotherapy – Hair Mesotherapy is the general practise of placing small doses of medications into the skin using fine needles to promote hair growth and reduce hair loss.

Minoxidil – Minoxidil is the only androgen-free topical solution approved by the US FDA for treating hair loss in both men and women. When applied to the scalp it has been shown to slow, or even stop, hair loss. Women are usually recommended to use Minoxidil 2% topical solution.

Healthy Diet – Hair loss in women can be caused by certain vitamin deficiencies. A diet rich in protein, vitamins A, E, C, & B6, and whole grains has been proven to help slow hair loss in women suffering from certain types of hair loss.
