What Is Eyebrow Transplantation?

Eyebrow transplants are intended for men and women who, for one reason or another, have experienced permanent eyebrow hair loss. While this is most often due to over-plucking of the same region for an extended period of time, it can also be caused by things like permanent make-up. Or, in rarer cases, more serious medical issues such as chemotherapy or skin disorders, most commonly alopecia.

While most eyebrows will typically grow back on their own, for several people the hair loss is permanent. For such patients, an eyebrow transplant can be an ideal solution for eyebrow restoration. Eyebrow transplantation involves removing hair follicles (grafts) from a donor area – typically the back of the head – before implanting the grafts into the recipient area where eyebrow loss has occurred.

Eyebrow Transplants In Turkey

Eyebrow transplants in the UK can cost upwards of £4,000; medical costs in Turkey are, on average, up to 70% less. This is just one of the reasons why men and women from around the world are choosing eyebrow transplants in Turkey as a viable option. Thanks to the training, skill, and volume of high-quality doctors in Turkey, a wide variety of world-leading hair restoration treatments are available in Turkey at a fraction of the cost of many other countries.

Eyebrow Transplantation With The DHI Method

Eyebrow transplants are extremely delicate and meticulous procedures. Therefore, great care must be taken at all stages to ensure a final result looking no different from a natural eyebrow. To achieve this, the angle and direction of hair growth – as well as of the transplanted hair follicles – must be monitored closely to ensure that they align. At our clinic, eyebrow transplants are performed using the DHI method. This allows for the hair follicles to be transplanted into the recipient area with far greater precision than the FUE technique; being placed between the existing eyebrow hairs to achieve a more natural final result.

How Does An Eyebrow Transplant Work?

Every patient’s needs are unique. This is why the first step of any hair transplant procedure is a one-on-one consultation. During the consultation, the donor and recipient areas will be evaluated according to each patient’s specific course of treatment. Specifically, the doctor will assess the shape of the eyebrow, the number of grafts required, as well as any specific needs or requests. Once the consultation is complete and a course of eyebrow restoration has been set, it is time to begin the procedure.

An eyebrow transplant begins with the removal of hair follicles from the donor area. To begin this procedure the donor area is first shaved; though only a very small part of the head is used, the donor area is easily masked by the remaining hair and is not visible to others. Secondly, a local anaesthetic is applied to the donor area to ensure comfort throughout the procedure.

Next, the hair follicles are extracted. Whereas most DHI hair restoration procedures prioritise grafts with multiple hair follicles, during eyebrow restoration only individual follicles are extracted. This provides a much more natural final result.

Once all of the grafts have been removed transplantation can begin. Again, the first step is to apply a local anaesthetic to the recipient area. After this, the extracted hair follicles are implanted directly into the recipient area using a Choi implanter pen. During this process, great care is taken to ensure that the grafts are placed in alignment with the direction and angle of the natural eyebrow.

A typical eyebrow transplant will take between 2-3 hours and require 200-300 grafts. After the procedure, the patient is encouraged to return to their hotel and rest. The final step of the eyebrow transplantation procedure takes place the following day during a follow-up examination. During this appointment, a medical dressing is applied to the recipient area to ensure that the transplanted hair follicles are properly anchored into the skin, as well as to prevent any further complications or contaminations. At this time, patients will also be given a full timeline for recovery and care of the newly transplanted hair (for example, avoid direct sunlight on the recipient area for two months).

Eyebrow Transplant Results

As with any hair restoration procedure, the final results will take time to show. In the two weeks immediately following the procedure, it is normal for the transplanted hair to fall out in what is known as “shock loss”, this hair will grow back on its own over the next 10-12 weeks. After 8-12 months, the final results will become visible and will remain permanently.
